World water day & American diabetes alert day.
Posted by Paul
Today is World Water day , in 1992 the UN designated 22nd March
each year as world water day and events are held all over the
world to raise awareness of of the fact that millions of people
around the world have no access to safe drinking water.
About 2 million people a year (mainly children) die of water
borne diseases which makes it the worlds single biggest killer.
Here are a couple of video’s i found on YouTube about world water day.
Today is also American Diabetes Alert day an intuitive in America by the
American Diabetes Association to raise awareness of people to weather they
are at risk of developing type 2 Diabetes.
As i wrote in an earlier post almost a third of the people in the UK who have
Diabetes do not know about it , so the amount of people in the USA who have
it and do not know will run into millions.
I think this alert day is a very good idea and as far as i know we do not have a day
like this in the UK, though we do have Diabetes Week (12 – 18 June)
